Overview

Chad is a trial attorney who focuses his practice on intellectual property matters — patent, trademark and copyright — within the energy, automotive, life sciences, manufacturing, oil and gas, and technology & telecommunications industries. His clients range in size from smaller startups to multinational conglomerates, and he strives to protect their innovations by defending them against competitors. He has tried cases across the country in both bench and jury trials and regularly advocates for his clients before the U.S. Patent Trial and Appeals Board. His background and depth of expertise allow him to approach cases with a critical eye and a unique perspective, often leading to creative solutions for his clients.

Prior to attending law school, Chad’s passion for understanding technology led him to pursue a Ph.D. in chemistry, which provides him a unique understanding of the connection between science, technology and the law. When those connections arise in litigation, Chad’s ability to explain intricate concepts in a clear, concise way and effectively prepare clients using his scientific knowledge provides the edge his clients need to achieve the best possible outcome in their IP or technology disputes.

Chad’s unique background growing up in rural New Mexico instilled him with a “community-first” mindset. He consistently seeks ways to give back to others, first through his research, teaching and community service during his academic career, and now through pro bono representation and a deep-rooted sense of justice in his legal career.

Before joining Munsch Hardt, Chad practiced at a Texas-based firm. He resides in Dallas with his wife and two sons, and enjoys spending time in the mountains. Chad aspires to climb most of the world’s largest mountains, and is well on his way with the completion of Kilimanjaro and Denali, with Aconcagua up next.
